Brooks Village, Lidcombe NSW

Located within the Botanica Estate in Lidcombe, Brooks Village is an adaptive re-use of the former Lidcombe Hospital. Previously used as the official Food Hall during the 2000 Sydney Olympics, the property has been transformed into a new neighbourhood centre including a medical centre, physio, allied health, childcare centre, cafes, beauty services and additional retail and commercial uses.

Taking over 5 years in town planning, negotiations and development, the result is all in the details with the goal to deliver a truly unique project that respects the historical significance and preserves the heritage of the site.
Through new mural installations, the commissioned artworks give nod to the past and present. Lidcombe still being the cultural centre of the Ukrainian community in Sydney, the artworks make reference to significant symbolism; from doves representing current struggle, historical Australian nursing headpiece, traditional Ukrainian dress, phoenix palms known in the area, the clock tower from Village Green, through to the use of healing colours also present in the Ukrainian flag.
