The DA approved 5-star 200 room hotel, retail and restaurant development is a unique project set to redefine sophistication and convenience in the heart of Sydney’s cityscape.

The site encompassing 806m2, is the amalgamation of three office buildings and the adaptive reuse of former St John’s Church, currently home to the renowned Genesian Theatre Company.

As one of the CBD’s most iconic developable sites, it is also located in the newly announced precinct designated by council to allow development bonuses including FSR and height for BTR (Build-to-Rent) and Co-Living affordable housing developments. Investigations are underway as to potential options for the site that include delivery of affordable housing to the Sydney CBD.

With the rising demand for rental properties owing to increased immigration, international student numbers and detached housing shortage, this project aims to cater to the changing landscape of urban living. As over 50% of Sydney residents now opting for rental over ownership, the BTR scheme presents a ‘win-win-win’ scenario for developers, governments and residents alike.

With the rarity of such a site within the core of the CBD, luxury apartment development options are also being explored.
